Job Specifics

Duties Description OPDV is seeking a Student Assistant to support a project that seeks to improve New York State’s response to and the prevention of gender-based violence through analysis of the availability of survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive core services across the State for victims and survivors of gender-based violence. The incumbent will assist the Deputy Executive Director of the Bureau of Prevention & Programming in analyzing current services; coordinating with State agency partners and community-based organizations; developing and implementing changes; and participating in all phases of the project lifecycle. This project is a temporary endeavor to start immediately and last three to six months with the purpose of accomplishing agency and/or executive initiatives.

Duties include but are not limted to:
• Assist in the analysis of the availability of survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive core gender-based violence victim services across the State.
• Conduct research.
• Develop, maintain, and update database programs.
• Assist with scheduling and documenting meetings.
• Collaborate and communicate with stakeholders to develop and identify recommendations for system improvements.
• Monitor status of project, identify any issues, and provide reports to management.
• Assists in the preparation, review, evaluation, and analysis of a variety of reports and other documents specific to the assignment.
• Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be currently enrolled as a part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate college students at an education institution accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States (U.S.) Department of Education/Secretary of Education. Documentation of Fall 2026 matriculation and enrollment in the Fall semester must be submitted with your resume.

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidate’s preferred area of study is human services, social work, criminal justice, women’s studies, or government administration.

NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.
