Job Specifics

Duties Description JOB SUMMARY:
Provides support for accounting operations by reconciling billing transactions, collecting revenue, and processing refunds. Serves as a primary point of contact for inquiries, investigates financial discrepancies, and ensures the accuracy of financial data through entry, processing, and auditing of records. Handles incoming calls, responds to public and interagency inquiries, and routes communications appropriately.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serves as a resource for students, parents, faculty, and staff on all matters related to student billing. Responsibilities include billing student accounts, processing scholarships and third-party billings, and issuing refunds.
• Responds to in-person, phone, email, and chat inquiries regarding billing statements and Business Office policies.
• Reconciles revenue and accounts receivable reports, investigates discrepancies, and supports collections activities.
• All other duties as assigned within the Civil Service Classified Standard

Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
COMPETITIVE QUALIFICATIONS (NON-HELPS)
Must be reachable on current Civil Service Office Assistant 2 (Calculations) SG-9 or currently hold the title of Office Assistant 2 (Calculations) SG-9 or a title from which transfer is appropriate.
NON-COMPETITIVE - MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (HELPS)
One year of clerical experience where majority of work time is spent performing mathematical operations, and/or clerical activities related to mathematical operations.
