Job Specifics
Duties Description The duties of this position will include but are not limited to the following:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Regional Director, assist with overseeing all aspects of Regional Operations.
• Oversee Regional Maintenance and SPIF to coordinate and prioritize projects, establish budgets, and track expenditures.
• Works with the Assistant Regional Director to review and prioritize the Region's equipment needs. Oversee the regional Fleet Management operation and manage the procurement process for new equipment and vehicles.
• Oversees and supervises Regional Safety Manager and the Regional Health
and Safety office, along with all aspects of emergency operations and response.
• Assist Regional Management with large scale events such as Fourth of July
fireworks, concerts, and the Jones Beach Air Show to ensure best operational practices are in place.
• Works closely with the Capital Facilities unit and Codes Division to coordinate regional construction projects.
• Travel throughout the region as needed to implement programs
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications If Civil Service Eligible list(s) exist, they will be canvassed. You may also apply if you are eligible for appointment by one of the following qualifications:
Reassignment Qualifications:
Current NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Employees only, with at least one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as a Park Operations Manager 3. If you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current Park Operations Manager 3 eligible list for this location, if one exists.
52.7 Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP) Qualifications:
To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation promotion field and have at least one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as a Park Operations Manager 1 or Park Operations Manager 2, or at least two years of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as a Park Manager 3. If 3 or fewer qualified NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation eligible promotional employees respond to this posting, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified employees without further examination.
Note: Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; the appointment will be competitive.
52.6 Transfer Qualifications:
At least one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as a Grade 27 or higher. The service must be in a title that Civil Service has deemed transfer eligible to the position.
Note: The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.

Additional Comments Operational Needs:
• At the time of appointment and as a condition for continued employment, you must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State.
• May need to work beyond normal work hours, on weekends and holidays.
Salary Information:
Starting salary is $119,283. The salary indicated includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for M/C M-3 ($115,283) and the Downstate Adjustment ($4,000).
Similarly, the job rate posted ($149,682) is a combination of the statutory job rate ($145,682) and Downstate Adjustment ($4,000).
