Job Specifics
Duties Description Under higher level supervision, the Taxpayer Services Specialist 2 will supervise and provide
administrative and technical assistance for the day to day activities of a unit.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise, plan, organize and adjust staff work assignments to avoid backlogs meet deadlines,
and monitor daily reports. Evaluate and monitor staff productivity, work performance and time and
attendance using existing quality assurance procedures.
-Access pertinent information from various databases and processing systems to identify and
accurately resolve taxpayer issues related to STAR and other STAR related credits.
-Review and make determinations on appeals filed by homeowners regarding eligibility for STAR
and other STAR related credits
- Display a calm, courteous and reasonable manner under sometimes difficult and highly stressful
circumstances.
- Identify improvement opportunities and work with supervisor(s) and employee(s) to develop and
implement training to advance job skills and abilities.
- Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external customers.
- Write performance evaluations, and assist in counseling and disciplinary actions as necessary
Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be current NYS employees eligible for transfer in accordance with Civil Service Laws, Rules, and Regulations.

Reachable on the appropriate Civil Service Eligible List for this title and location.
