Job Specifics

Duties Description Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner of Technology, the Manager of Information Technology Services 2 will lead the Application Development team. The MITS 2 will work closely with senior managers, team members, architects, the enterprise Information Security Office (ISO), and the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) teams to develop a roadmap for modernizing the Office of General Services Business Solutions.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Develop procedures, standards, and internal controls for conducting work within the unit; monitor compliance and take appropriate action as needed
• Communicate with all executive teams regarding status, progress, and risks.
Coordinate with other team managers, agency management, vendors, the ITS exec team, and other affected stakeholders.
• Manage/Oversee and provide technical direction and guidance to application development teams, and schedule, coordinate, and facilitate team meetings to organize work and track progress
• Assign work to subordinate supervisors. Monitor project progress, review major staff initiatives and work products, and make recommendations as appropriate.
• Develop alternative solution proposals and lead meetings attended by agency teams, ITS management, and enterprise staff to discuss proposals
• Implement standard release and deployment management principles and checklists, and automate release and deployment management activities across all applications
• Ensure applications are running on current technology versions
• Participate in and contribute to all strategic planning, governance, and roadmap planning discussions with the agency and ITS
• Maintain application documentation and artifacts in repositories for easy access and information sharing
• Perform a wide range of Supervisory activities
• Keep abreast of new technologies and innovations in AppDev and DevOps
• Ensure unit staff remain current on required ITS training

Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent service as Manager Information Technology Services 1 or Manager Information Technology Services 1 with any parenthetic.

Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
