Job Specifics

Duties Description The Nursing Station Clerk 1 will be responsible for Resident Labels. This includes checking for minimum label coverage, adding missing labels, removing outdated or invalid labels, and maintaining organization.

The Nursing Station Clerk 1 will be responsible for an array of clerical functions such as answering phones, delivering mail and paperwork to employees and residents, retrieving appointment requests/other paperwork for outside appointments. They will print an assortment of needed work sheets, and audit for neighborhood supply needs and stock.

The incumbent is responsible for the Unit communication book. This includes updating the book per nursing request with emails or other in-service related information.

They will keep unit files and drawers organized and ensure there are copies of all nursing unit forms and documents.

The incumbent will assist nurses in ensuring all residents have the appropriate name bands.

They will be responsible for escorting and returning patients in and out of the building for appointments.

Minimum Qualifications Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at Oxford employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Nursing Station Clerk 1 or Nursing Station Clerk 1 Trainee.

Transfers: Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position that is eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 Nursing Station Clerk 1 or Nursing Station Clerk 1Trainee.

NY HELPS Minimum Qualifications:
Nursing Station Clerk Trainee: Six months of full-time clerical experience in a health care setting; or six months of full-time secretarial experience in a health care setting; or six months of full-time patient care experience in a health care setting.

Nursing Station Clerk 1: One year of full-time clerical experience in a health care setting; or one year of full-time secretarial experience in a health care setting; or one year of full-time patient care experience in a health care setting.
