Job Specifics

Duties Description As a Supervising Labor Services Representative in the Division of Employment and Workforce Solutions you would supervise professional and clerical staff through the development of a cohesive team that focuses on meeting Department needs by directing staff in a uniform approach ensuring the delivery of services to the agency’s customers.

You may be responsible for representing the Commissioner of Labor and the Division Director at meetings with local workforce investment boards, the local Chamber of Commerce and other community based organizations.

Minimum Qualifications As this position requires travel, the appointee must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State and have a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.
The purpose of this posting is to determine if there is a Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP) field as described under the 52.7 NCP qualifications.

52.7 Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP) Qualifications:
To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as a Labor Services Representative, Labor Services Representative (Spanish Language), Labor Services Representative (Chinese Language), Labor Services Representative (Creole Language), Labor Services Representative (Korean Language), Labor Services Representative (Polish Language), Labor Services Representative (Russian Language), Labor Services Representative (Disabled Veterans Outreach), Labor Services Representative (Local Veterans Employment Representative). If 3 or fewer qualified Department of Labor Labor Services Representative (Spanish Language) respond to this posting, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified Labor Services Representative (Spanish Language) without further examination.

Note: Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; the appointment will be competitive.

Note: To be considered for appointment you will be required to pass a Civil Service language proficiency exam to demonstrate proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading the Spanish language at a level that will ensure your ability to perform the duties of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.

Additional Comments Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.

Additional location pay is available for the following counties: Bronx, Kings, Nassau, NYC-Manhattan, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, and Westchester, Dutchess, Orange, and Putnam.
