Job Specifics

Duties Description The Communications, Information, and Engagement Unit Leader resides within the Information and Education Section within the Bureau of Wildlife. The primary function of this position is to coordinate Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation (R3) efforts related to hunting, trapping, and wildlife observation, oversee development and distribution of Bureau communications associated with wildlife conservation and co-existing with wildlife, and assist with initiation and implementation of community engagement/citizen science programs. Additionally, this position will supervise internal information management through database development and coordination for the Bureau. The incumbent will need to work closely with the Hunter Education Unit within the Section and with the Land Management, Wildlife Diversity, Wildlife Health and Game Sections towards coordinated messaging to improve public appreciation for and conservation of wildlife and their habitats. The Unit leader will also take a lead role in developing means to evaluate communications and engagement efforts. The Unit Leader will supervise biologists, environmental program specialists, and support staff dedicated to data management, communications, outreach, R3, and community engagement activities. This position will also assist in relevant coordination to the Division of Fish and Wildlife implementation of a broader DFW Outreach and Promotion Plan.

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or

Transfer Eligible under Section 70.1 - One year of permanent competitive service as a Biologist 2 (Aquatic), (Ecology), (Marine) or (Wildlife), SG23.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Travel may be required.
Overnight travel may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
Telecommuting may be available up to 50% of work schedule, will be discussed at interview.
