Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor.
Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and motorized equipment.
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights on scaffolds and platforms.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
A valid NYS CDL class B driver’s license.

Duties Description Perform a variety of relatively unskilled maintenance; repair and related activities assisting skilled and semiskilled trades positions, to include the heavier and less skilled work.

Work under journeyman carpenters, painters, etc. in their trade during construction activities and assists with cleaning and maintaining their work areas.

Remove materials preparatory to repair or construction; preparing surfaces and painting; assisting in construction and carrying construction materials and or supplies.

Assemble or dissemble office furniture such as desks, tables, bookcases, etc. Move furniture, equipment, and supplies in support of personnel moves.

Load and unload heavy equipment, supplies, and furniture by physically lifting the items or by operating a hand truck or pallet jacks.

Work with hand held power tools such as drills, hand saws, sanders, etc.

Operate motor vehicles including a heavy-duty truck.

Additional Comments This is a permanent position in the labor class jurisdictional classification. Candidates should be aware that a preferred list, transfer list, placement roster and/or reemployment roster of laid off State employees may be certified against this vacancy by the Department of Civil Service.
