Job Specifics

Duties Description This Medicaid Eligibility Examiner 3 (MEE 3) will work within the Bureau of Community Enrollment and Eligibility Processing to provide support for expansion and eligibility initiatives related to Medicaid policy, with a focus on program integrity projects.

Specific duties and responsibility may include but are not limited to:

Reviewing reports related to Medicaid eligibility.
Identifying, reporting, and troubleshooting system issues related to Medicaid eligibility processing.
Developing or updating instructions and procedures for monitoring reports to ensure compliance with Department policy and regulations.•Providing accurate information in communications with stakeholders, providers and co-workers seeking assistance in resolving Medicaid eligibility concerns.
Reviewing cases for audit inquiries.
Supervising and training subordinate staff on project work procedures.
Assisting with new initiatives and special projects as needed/assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer: Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Medicaid Eligibility Examiner 3, Grade 17.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have professional experience in public health insurance programs, including New York’s Medicaid, and/or Child Health Plus. Preferred candidates will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical skills and attention to detail; strong organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access); the ability to work well independently and as part of a team, and to manage multiple priorities in order to meet deadlines; experience using electronic data systems, such as eMedNY and NYSOH Back Office; and supervisory experience.
