Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be immediately reachable on the eligible list for the title, eligible for lateral transfer, or eligible for transfer per the New York State Civil Service Law.

Candidates should have experience working with Microsoft Excel and Word with constant attention to detail. In addition, candidates should possess strong organizational skills, and be able to work both independently and in a team based environment and be able to prioritize multiple assignments.

Duties Description The Office Assistant 2 position will be fully dedicated to the Housing Choice Voucher Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS). The incumbent will report to and work closely with the Statewide FSS Coordinator, providing office and clerical support in such areas as communication, coordination, organization and records maintenance. This will entail a wide range of tasks, from photocopying, filing and making travel arrangements, to preparing and reviewing correspondence and other documents, conducting and writing up assigned research, running reports in a specialized Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher computer program, assisting with mandatory HUD surveys, helping coordinate and arrange special events, interacting with internal and external HCR contacts, and becoming familiar with and following HUD and HCR regulations, policies and procedures. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrate a strong work ethic, show initiative where appropriate, be able to understand and adhere to complex policies and procedures, have strong computer skills, and be attentive to details without losing sight of the larger picture.
