Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications • PMI PMP Certification
• 10 years of experience successfully managing IT systems development projects
• 10 years of experience in project management including:
o 5 years as the lead PM
o 5 years of experience with MS Project
o 5 years working in/with a PMO and following a standardized PM methodology
o 2 years managing multiple successful projects concurrently

Preferred Experience:
• Experience managing Government Sector projects
• Experience managing Oracle Siebel Systems Development projects
• Technical writing experience with project deliverables and system documentation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Duties Description The Project Assistant will report to the Manager Information Technology Services and supervise a project team consisting of both state staff and contract staff. This position will provide Project Management in a Siebel environment for the Disabilities and Aging Cluster’s Siebel technology platform and other technologies.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform all aspects of project management following the NYS Project Management Guidebook and/or ITS specific requirements through all project phases and deliverables
• Working with project team, define the WBS (work breakdown structure) and create a project schedule for all project tasks
• Track progress, maintaining a current schedule within MS Project, clearly identifying critical paths, dependencies, resource assignments, and actual versus estimates for time and budget
• Identify and manage cross-project dependencies
• Track project budget
• Control project scope via formal change control process
• Assign tasks, duties and projects within the project team as required
• Provide reports, statistics and recommendations to managing supervisor, the PMO and the EPMO
• Provide overall direction and supervision for all activities of project team staff including state and contract staff
• Track and manage project risks and issues, working with the project teams
• Insure adherence with mandated security requirements is part of every project
• Conduct and/or participate in meetings with management, users and ITS staff in order to keep everyone informed and to make decisions regarding project progress and direction

Additional Comments Travel Percentage is 10% (local).
