Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-11 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer. Candidates who do meet the criteria for transfer must also have a Bachelor’s or higher degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Forensics, Law Enforcement, Criminal Science, Public Justice, Justice Studies or Correctional Studies. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge or coursework related to juvenile justice, adolescent development, and crime prevention are preferred.
Duties Description The Criminal Justice Program Representative (Administration) Trainee 1 will be assigned to the Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ). Under supervision, the CJPR 1 (Administration) will provide programmatic oversight of various Juvenile Justice Advisory Board funded projects, and will serve as the program area lead during the administration of these projects. The CJPR 1 (Administration) will staff one or more of the nine Regional Youth Justice Teams located throughout New York State, and participate with the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative, along with other State Agencies, and will provide technical assistance and training to support this work. The incumbent will provide oversight to one or more programs funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice which includes travel to various regions within the State to conduct site visits and meet with grantees to address performance measures and program outcomes. In addition to these tasks, the CJPR 1 (Administration) will also prepare various reports and funding applications as necessary, develop and conduct presentations for grantees, create and present proposals to present to the Juvenile Justice Advisory Group (JJAG) members for consideration and funding, and assist with special projects as needed. Approximately 20% travel required.
Additional Comments Appointment is subject to Division of Budget waiver approval.
This is a two year traineeship which leads to a Criminal Justice Program Representative 1 (Administration), SG-18 position.
