Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications .In title Habilitation Specialist 1, or
. Eligible for 70.1 transfer by way of current permanent status in a title deemed comparable by the department of Civil Service (must also be within 2 salary grades of a Grade 14).
. Qualified Intellectual Developmental Professional (QIDP) is preferred.
QIDP candidates must possess Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and have one (1) year’s experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
.Qualified for provisional* appointment to Habilitation Specialist 1.
Minimum qualifications for current New York State Employee:
- A bachelor’s degree in human services field and one-year permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a clinical or direct care position.
Minimum qualifications for outside applicant:
- A bachelor’s degree in human services field and one-year direct care or clinical experience in an organization whose primary focus is providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
NOTE: A master’s degree in a human services field or permanent New York State Certification as a teacher may be substituted for the degree and experience described above.
Duties Description Under the supervision of the Day Program Director, the Day Service Coordinator is responsible for the development, documentation, and implementation of Day Habilitation services for individuals who live in both state and voluntary operated residence programs. They work with and supervise direct care employees and are responsible to develop and provide opportunities that promote community inclusion.
May be required to report to residences for transportation needs. Will be required to complete investigations as assigned by Quality Management.
