Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Reachable on the Engineering Personnel Examiner 1 eligible list or 55 b/c eligible with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in civil engineering, civil engineering technology or transportation engineering.

Duties Description Engineering Personnel Examiners develop tests that are used to select individuals for appointment and promotion to positions in State and local government in New York State. The incumbent will analyze jobs, determine appropriate selection measures, develop test plans, prepare test items, analyze test results, and make recommendations for test scoring and passpoints for State and local examinations. Primarily working with the assistance of subject matter experts, the incumbent will be responsible for examinations in the areas of engineering and the physical sciences. The incumbent typically develops multiple choice written tests, but may also develop job sample performance tests, evaluations of training and experience, written simulation tests, essay tests, and other selection measures.
