Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Valid NYS drivers license required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas under adverse weather conditions. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Overnight travel and overtime may be required.

Duties Description Assist the R6 fisheries unit in our warmwater and great lakes, Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River, sampling programs. Experience with fish management techniques including fish id and ageing, seining, electrofishing, and trap and gill netting is desired. Recording data in a standard manner and other data processing and entry tasks will be required. Able to operate boats on Lake Ontario or other large bodies of water.

Additional Comments Seasonal hourly appointment ending no later than 11/30/2017. Program needs will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to 11/30/2017. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary. Total hours will not exceed 40 per week and will be discussed at the interview.
