Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Permanent: Permanent service in this title, or one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service as a SG-9 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law, or reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for this title.
Provisional: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding), Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding Spanish Language), Office Assistant 2 (Keyboarding), Office Assistant 2 (Keyboarding Spanish Language), Law Department Document Specialist Trainee 1, Law Department Specialist Trainee 2, or Law Department Document Specialist.
Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access; ability to work well in a busy office environment; ability to multitask and deal with shifting priorities.
Duties Description The Office of Youth Justice (OYJ) provides resources and expertise to promote positive change and improve the quality and responsiveness of the justice system on behalf of youth and families. The Secretary 1 will provide administrative support to the staff of OYJ. The incumbent will perform a variety of paraprofessional tasks including but not limited to: assisting staff with travel arrangements, from making reservations as well as review, preparation and submittal of travel vouchers and travel authorizations for in-state and out-of-state travel; formatting and finalizing contracts for approval; purchasing for the office using Oracle financials; conducting internal reviews; developing materials for juvenile justice meetings across the State; and also maintaining cost center log, filing, directing calls and completing other activities necessary to support the efforts of OYJ.
Additional Comments Appointment is subject to Division of Budget waiver approval.
