Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service eligible list, or;
Candidates holding a permanent position of Senior Attorney may be eligible for transfer or reassignment.

Duties Description Incumbent will be a Senior Attorney in the Office of General Counsel assigned to the Administrative Review Division. The Senior Attorney will be responsible for reviewing applications for administrative review submitted pursuant to WCL Section 23 and drafting proposed decisions related to those applications for approval by Members of the Workers' Compensation Board. Such review and drafting will require articulating the issue(s) raised
on appeal, reviewing documents in the Board's files, ascertaining the facts, performing legal research, applying the law to the facts, and proposing a resolution in a proposed decision following a standardized format. The Senior Attorney will also prepare revised
decisions after Oral Argument and when the Board Panel recommends technical corrections, amendments or revisions of the proposed decision. The incumbent may also be tasked with assisting the other units/divisions of the Office of General Counsel as necessary. Upon occasion the incumbent may also be involved in special legal projects on various issues concerning the application of Workers' Compensation Law, give presentations, Continuing Legal Education lectures, legal summaries, etc.
