Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position. For qualified employees of New York Stat on or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55b/55-c service as a Recreation Program Leader 1.

Duties Description As a Recreation Program Leader 2, you will assist in directing a multi-faceted recreation program to meet the needs of offenders in a correctional facility. You would provide direction to train, schedule, and coordinate the activities of personnel and offenders who implement all scheduled athletic, recreational, and special events. You would assist in compiling data for the special subjects program budget justification process. In conjunction with other facility personnel, you would evaluate and make recommendations regarding the recreation program, and maintain all recreational facilities and equipment. You may act as a liaison for the recreation program with other correctional facility staff and outside groups.
