Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Eligible for a lateral transfer, or a 70.1 transfer by having one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in an appropriate title.

Duties Description This Office Assistant 1 Spanish Language (SL) position is located in the Customer Support Center (CSC) of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) State Supplement Bureau (SSP), within Employment and Income Support Programs.
Under the direction of a Grade 9 supervisor, this CSC SL Office Assistant will:
• Answer the telephones following CSC Unit protocols;
• Enter data from call into SSP system;
• Initiate the mailing of documents to recipients/provider agencies;
• Escalate issues to supervisor/Work Units as needed;
• Direct recipients to internal or external resources as necessary [i.e., Social Security Administration (SSA), Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)];
• Create work items for the work units;
• Assist other units as necessary;
• Communicate with all co-workers (both verbally and written); and
• Return phone calls.
Additional Comments Appointment to this position is contingent upon the Division of the Budget approval to fill. A full-time, permanent appointment will be made. Incumbent must demonstrate and pass a Spanish language test to show his or her ability to understand Spanish and to speak it fluently. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title.
