55-b/55-c Candidates must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications above and include with their resume or application, a copy of the letter from Civil Service which indicates approval for the 55-b/55-c program.
A bachelor's or higher level degree in one of the physical or natural sciences, environmental sciences, engineering, economics, or planning, AND two years of full-time professional experience in the establishment of environmental policies; preparing or reviewing climate relevant policies, plans, projects, regulations or environmental impact statements; preparing climate-relevant professional testimony for use in hearings or trials involving environmental matters; or preparing environmental analysis of climate change issues. A Master's degree in one of the required disciplines may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
Duties Description The CPA 1 will work within the Office of Climate Change to support delivery of mitigation and adaptation programs critical to fulfilling the state’s climate agenda. These programs may include Climate Smart Communities, Environmental Protection Fund contract administration and other climate-change initiatives related to transportation, short-lived climate pollutants, climate resiliency and initiatives that demonstrate the State’s leadership by example. The CPA 1 will research and report on projects; review documentation and draft materials; score grant applications; manage municipal and other contracts; provide analyses, summaries and recommendations for program managers; edit documents; and facilitate exchange of information with working groups, stakeholders and the public. The CPA will apply knowledge, skills and aptitude in such areas as climate science, government operations, contract management, economic analyses, ecosystem management, geospatial analysis, meeting facilitation, and written and oral communication to support development and application of policy and resources to achieve Office of Climate Change goals and objectives.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Travel, overtime, and overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required.
