Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications 6 years of experience in domestic violence service provision, training and/or education. A bachelor’s degree in education, social science or human resources may be substituted for four year of experience. A Master’s in one of the above fields can substitute for five years of the experience. Knowledge of the social services and criminal justice systems, knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault issues, strong writing, speaking, organizational, computer and interpersonal skills are required. Preference may be given to candidates with knowledge of adult learning theory and the instructional design process.
Duties Description Under the general supervision of a Program Coordinator for the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, the incumbent is responsible for the provision of training support services for child welfare staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing technical assistance to other government agencies and community organizations including assessing needs, collecting and maintaining data and developing materials and job aids; assisting with research for and contributing to the development of Computer Based Training modules utilizing a combination of lecture and visual applications; organizing meetings and workgroups related to work assignments; assisting in the review of domestic violence related educational, training, informational materials and policies; conducting research to enhance project activities; developing survey instruments and preparing them for web posting; assisting in the development of curricula and in the planning, coordination and implementation of training initiatives including: conducting needs assessment; conducting task analysis; evaluating training programs including tabulation, analysis and reporting of all levels of training evaluation; development of training evaluation tools; preparing quarterly and final reports regarding training initiatives, where appropriate; recruiting for and coordinating training programs; maintaining all software and programs necessary to support training projects; assisting in the coordination and scheduling of training programs specific to contract; co-training with staff from another agency per contract; assisting in the coordination of material acquisitions that support training delivery, including training aides and material; assisting in the development of informational and outreach materials; preparing written reports as required by the agency and/or funding sources. 55% travel is required.
