Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Pilgrim Psychiatric Center is recruiting a Dentist 3 to supervise their dental program, including the supervision of dental staff. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Dentist 3 if they have:
• NYS License and current registration to practice dentistry, and
• 4 years of full-time post-licensure dentistry experience, 1 year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity in a dental health care setting.

OR

Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Dentist 4 eligible list.

OR

Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

OR

In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Dentist 3 at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center. Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position’s minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met.

The promotion field for the Dentist 3 position consists of candidates who have 1 year of permanent service as a Dentist 2.

Duties Description As Dentist 3, you will function as a general dental practitioner and administer the dental program including:
• Planning, organizing, and directing the work of professional and paraprofessional dental staff
• Consulting with subordinate dentists on problem cases
• Coordinating dental services with other clinical specialties
• Ensuring documentation of all dental procedures

Additional Comments;
Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 34 ($149,047), Location pay (3,400) and Geographic Pay Differential ($35,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($179,511), location pay ($3,400) Geographic Pay Differential ($35,000).
