Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications • Must be a US citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be currently attending a New York State college, university or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State
• Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year’s worth of academic credits over a more extended period of time may qualify part-time students) OR currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
• Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or equivalent to a C.
Duties Description The Governance, Compliance, Awareness, & Training (GCAT) team develops and maintains statewide information security policies, standards and guidelines, monitors compliance, provides support for internal and external audits as they relate to information security, coordinates the training needs of CISO, and promotes cyber security awareness and information security “Best Practices” through various outreach activities and events including the annual NYS Cyber Security Conference.
Duties may include:
1. Support various aspects of the CISO training program, including cybersecurity training activities to build core competencies and capabilities for CISO staff.
2. Assist with promoting cybersecurity awareness programs and activities in NYS, including supporting ITS CISO at booth exhibits, presentations and in the planning and execution of activities.
3. Assist in preparing cybersecurity communications and metrics for cyber security awareness, training, and outreach.
4. Support the scheduling and organization of internal training opportunities, tabletop exercises and phishing programs.
Preferred 1+ years’ experience in technical writing/communications or coursework in writing/communications. Preferred demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills.

Additional Comments This position can be part time or full time.
