Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Manhattan Psychiatric Center is currently recruiting a Maintenance Supervisor 2 to manage and oversee maintenance, repair, and construction activities at the facility. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Maintenance Supervisor 2 if they have 2 years of first-level supervisory experience in maintenance and operation of a physical plant; building construction; and/or building renovation and/or repair projects.

OR

Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Maintenance Supervisor 2 eligible list.

OR

Candidates within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

OR

In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Maintenance Supervisor 2 at Manhattan Psychiatric Center. Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position’s minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met.

The promotion field for the Maintenance Supervisor 2 position consists of candidates who have 1 year of permanent service as a Maintenance Supervisor 1.

Duties Description As a Maintenance Supervisor 2, you will oversee the activities of skilled trades, semiskilled, and unskilled positions including:
• Reviewing maintenance requests to determine what materials, equipment, and staff are needed
• Planning all rehabilitation and construction projects
• Implementing and enforcing preventative maintenance program
• Inspecting all work in progress and completed work to ensure regulatory and code compliance
• Developing training programs
