Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Creedmoor Psychiatric Center is recruiting an Addictions Counselor 1 to provide addictions counseling, treatment, and recovery services to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they are registered as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), CASAC Level 2, CASAC-Advanced Counselor, or CASAC Master Counselor in New York State.

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description As an Addictions Counselor 1 at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center, you will provide addictions counseling and treatment services to individuals with mental illness.

Duties include:

• Completing psychosocial assessments and substance-related screenings.
• Developing individualized treatment plans that include goals and objectives.
• Conducting individual and group counseling sessions.
• Monitoring and reporting on individuals' progress and maintaining records.
• Providing education and information to individuals families throughout the treatment process.
