Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed and currently registered by New York State as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) AND have one year of post NYS licensure professional social work experience OR licensed and currently registered by New York State as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
Experience serving as an inpatient care team member with liaison responsibilities. Clinical experience working with a neurological diagnosis in an inpatient rehabilitation consultative setting and understanding of inpatient documentation guidelines is preferred. Excellent communication skills with patients, family members, and clinical teams.
Duties Description Candidate will work with the following: psychological assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral issues in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital setting. The candidate is expected to be an active treatment team member, providing patient support and liaising with family members during the inpatient stay and throughout the discharge planning process; Provide clinical consultation and assistance to members of the professional staff under the supervision of the Psychiatrist; Serve as a resource to other team members regarding social adjustment, discharge service needs, and the effective utilization of community services; Provide individual and family counseling as well as crisis intervention; Preparation of reports and records as required. Other duties may be required as assigned.
