Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Must have completed at least 12 credit hours of college study and be currently enrolled in an accredited degree program.

Each NYSDOT employee plays an important part in fulfilling the Department’s mission and goals, as we are one DOT working cohesively to ensure the state has a safe, efficient, balanced, and environmentally sound transportation system.

The duties will vary from position to position, depending on the assignment. Interns will perform duties such as engineering, research, highway/structures design, traffic operations/safety, surveying, etc.

Student Assistants will report to professional level staff performing various duties to achieve the mission of the agency. Engineering majors in their senior year are encouraged to apply!

Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

Additional Comments Internships are for the Spring 2025 semester within the Utica area region, working approximately 10-30 hours per week.

College seniors preferred.
