Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Either
1: current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD). OR 2: your New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition AND have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours* of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a RD.
You must indicate your NYSED certification in dietetics-nutrition number on your application.
* If you are qualifying under #2, the additional 400 hours required is in addition to the 800 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of an RD required for NYSED certification. On your application you must provide the name of the institution where you obtained the additional hours; the name of your supervisor; and your supervisor's qualifications.

Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
As a Dietitian 2, you would be a member of an interdisciplinary team and provide Medical Nutrition Therapy which may include consulting with physicians on nutrition support requests; planning and supervising the preparation of special diets and menus; maintaining safe and sanitary conditions; and training or assisting individuals, families, and staff to plan specialized and therapeutic nutrition care plans. You may have oversight responsibility in the service of food; assist in the instruction of students or nutrition interns in Medical Nutrition Therapy and food preparation techniques, supervise dietetic interns and technicians; and/or supervise a small food preparation service unit.
This Dietitian 2 will work 50% of the time in the Article 16 clinic in Thiells, NY and 50% of the time in SOIRA homes in Rockland County. The incumbent will provide nutritional services to approximately 30 individuals in the Article 16 clinic and individuals residing in Rockland County with a base of 11 Wilbur Rd. Thiells, NY. The Dietitian 2 is responsible to provide nutritional diagnosis and medical nutrition therapy to individuals with diabetes, obesity, GI malfunctions, cardiovascular diseases, renal and kidney disorders, and other nutritionally related problems. Further
responsibilities include annual nutritional assessments, semiannual reviews, development of seasonal menus tailored to the individual's nutritional needs, meal observations, food safety and sanitation inspections, staff dietary training and individual's nutritional education.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor the need of high nutritional risk individuals in their assigned area (i.e., tube feeding, pre-tube feedings, those prone to aspiration pneumonia, multiple chopped/puree consistency diets, as well as individuals with kealoric, electrolyte, nutrient and other metabolic needs, such as diabetes, hypertension, low body weight, renal and kidney disorders etc.).
• Complete an Annual Nutritional Assessment & Nutritional Diagnosis via the nutritional care process (NCP) for each individual based on his/her nutritional care needs.
• Perform semi-annual nutritional review for all IRA & Willowbrook individuals.
• Perform monthly weights, lab reviews, and diet roster update.
• Develop staff training plans for employees on all three shifts in assigned areas based upon individuals' specific nutritional care needs.
• Develop seasonal menus tailored to the individual's needs.
• Conduct weekly meal observations.
• Train staff on proper food safety and sanitation.
• Provide nutrition care instructions to individuals and their families.
• Conduct annual sanitation inspections of kitchens and food safety update.
• Other duties as assigned appropriate to the title.
• Travel required.

Additional Comments *Please note, the posted Hiring Salaries includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for ASU Grade 18 ($63,108), along with any special salary treatments in effect for this position in this location, such as a Downstate Adjustment ($3,400). The posted maximum salary (Job Rate of $80,248) includes the previously stated Downstate Adjustment.

TRAVEL: Appointment to certain positions may require extensive travel within a designated area of assignment. Appointees to these positions may be required to operate a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job. If the position requires that you operate a motor vehicle, you must possess a driver's license valid in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter. Field work and travel expenses are reimbursed on a fixed schedule.
