Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current New York State employee with permanent or contingent permanent, competitive status as an Office Assistant 1, Grade 6, OR New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive, service in a title at or above Grade 4, and deemed eligible for transfer to Office Assistant 1, Grade 6, under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Public Candidates: Active list candidate on the New York State Department of Civil Service's Beginning Office Assistant eligible list#26-711 with a score of 100 or higher, OR qualified 55 b/c candidate.

NYHELPS: There are no minimum education or experience requirements.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate must be able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment, have strong organizational and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a desire to contribute to a team-oriented workplace.

Duties Description The Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP) is a regulatory program responsible for the oversight of clinical laboratories, blood banks, patient service centers and limited service laboratories located in or accepting specimens from NYS. An office assistant 1 is needed to maintain daily operations in the CLEP. The incumbent will receive and distribute mail, process incoming applications and fees associated, monitor Program shared mailboxes, address common inquiries and direct other email appropriately, process initial data entry of incoming applications, digitize hard copy documents for archive and prepare hard copy mailings to regulated entities.

Additional Comments This position is located at Western Avenue and includes on-site free parking.

This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.

This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
