Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Duties Description This position will help to assist the statewide small game management programs in New York. Under the supervision of the small game unit leader, the incumbent will work with regional biologists and technicians to implement the migratory and upland game bird programs throughout the state. Duties will include banding and survey data entry and management, game bird banding, survey implementation. The incumbent is responsible for data entry and maintenance of centralized harvest and survey databases. Duties also include working with regional staff in data collection, drafting and/or assisting staff with preparation of reports, and assisting in field work for species management and monitoring.

Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/25, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
