Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
• Transfer Eligibility Requirement: You must have a current permanent appointment with a minimum of 1 year of service in a position of the same title or transferable title.
• Reassignment Requirement: You must hold the same title at the University at Buffalo.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in a residential cleaning environment
• A valid license to operate a motor vehicle in NYS
Departmental Operating Needs:
• Candidates should have good knowledge of cleaning and care practices and procedures, including equipment and effective custodial work performance standards.
• Supervisory experience.
• This position requires travel on campus, between campuses and off campus. A valid license to operate a motor vehicle in NYS is preferred or the incumbent must demonstrate their ability to meet the transportation requirements of the role.
• Since the activities of other employees depend on the availability of the employee in this position, reliable attendance is a factor that will be considered when filling this vacancy.
• Candidates must possess computer skills adequate to work with computerized time and attendance applications.
• The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is important.
Duties Description Position Summary:
Residential Custodial Services at the University at Buffalo is accepting applications for the Supervising Janitor role. In this position, you will provide leadership to a team of dynamic and diverse individuals who are dedicated to the provision of safe, attractive, and well-functioning residential and related support spaces across UB’s North and South campuses. All of the Student Life trades and custodial staff work within UB’s residential halls and apartments.
In a typical year, Campus Living houses up to 7,500 students at UB. Our skilled trades and custodial staff care for the buildings our students live in. Their first priority is the health and safety of our students. Without dedicated cleaners and maintenance staff, the university would not be able to have a residential program.
Your responsibilities include:
• Supervise, assign tasks, train and mentor designated staff
• Manage overtime distribution and time and attendance
• Actively participate in the recruitment and selection process for the Cleaner and Janitor roles
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of classified and professional staff
• Manage performance and participate in addressing employee relation matters
