Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications There are no education or experience qualifications for this class. Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.

Duties Description • Serve as a Visitor Center representative and retail sales associate.
• Process sales transactions in a point-of sale (POS) system and handle cash transactions.
• Provide information about the Empire State Plaza and State Capitol to customers in a professional and courteous manner.
• Provide information on merchandise in the Visitor Center to customers in a professional and courteous manner.
• Refill brochures at all information locations.
• Fill in/staff other information booths as needed.
• File purchase orders and invoices by vendors.
• Restock shelves, supplies, and stock room.
• Replenish bags and boxes.
• Organize shelves at assigned station.
• Assist with inventory cycle counts and report any discrepancies and reordering needs to the manager.
• Assist manager in closing procedures.
• Count cash drawers and print closing reports.
• Perform retail customer service and other duties as assigned.
