Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive: Candidates must possess a New York State Driver's License appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Candidates may be required to possess a CDL Class A, B, C or General Class D License.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience operating a large box truck. Ability to operate a variety of material handling equipment, ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time. Possess the ability to safely lift more than 60lbs on a normal basis

Duties Description The Motor Vehicle Operator will be assigned to the Wadsworth Center and will be responsible for operating a range of vehicles on and off State property to facilitate the transportation of mail, materials, specimens, and equipment as necessary. The operator may be required to plan routes, itineraries, and designated stops. Responsibilities include loading and unloading cargo onto and from the vehicle, as well as transporting it to delivery or storage locations. The operator will also maintain accurate records, including manifests and inventories, of all goods and individuals transported. Additionally, the operator must ensure that all routine vehicle maintenance is conducted in a timely manner to support the efficient movement of cargo.

Additional Comments Candidates must possess a New York State Driver’s License appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
