Job Specifics

Duties Description A Security Hospital Treatment Assistant will perform a variety of tasks related to care, engagement, treatment, education, recovery, safety, and security of individuals with mental illness in forensic hospitals and units operated my OMH, including:

• Participate in the development and implementation of treatment plans
• Interact with patients and observe and progress and responses to treatment
• Assist and instruct patients in attending to person care tasks
• Escort patients to activities and appointments on and facility grounds
• Complete necessary documentation and maintain patient records

Minimum Qualifications Security Hospital Treatment Assistants (SHTA) are part of a multidisciplinary team focused on providing compassionate care and support to individuals with serious mental illness who are involved in the Criminal Justice System.

Candidates from outside State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program. Candidates must have a High School or High School Equivalency Diploma and two years of full-time direct patient care experience working in a health care, behavioral health, corrections, or juvenile justice setting/program. or An associate’s degree and one year of full-time direct patient care experience working in a health care, behavioral health, corrections or juvenile justice setting or a bachelor's degree.

If you are appointed and lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
