Job Specifics

Duties Description The Supervisor Forensic Services assigned to the Forensic Investigation Center (FIC) is responsible for administration of the technical and scientific functions of all forensic analysis performed in the Seized Drugs and Fire Debris disciplines. This includes: supervision of testing procedures and reports of findings; technical problem solving and analytical methods; and the oversight of training, quality assurance, safety, adherence to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) National Accreditation Board (ANAB), ISO Standards, Standards Established by the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services and proficiency testing.

DUTIES

Responsible for the administration of the technical and scientific operations of all forensic analyses in the Seized Drugs and Fire Debris disciplines at the FIC.

Responsible for the supervision of a team of Forensic Scientists in forensic laboratory procedures and the preparation of reports of forensic findings.

Responsible for technical problem solving, analytical methods and for the oversight of training, quality assurance, safety and proficiency testing.

Responsible for continuing education programs and serves as a resource person for criminal justice personnel.

Have administrative oversight of the Seized Drugs and Fire Debris disciplines.

Consult with the Director of Quality Assurance regarding laboratory quality issues and accreditation matters.

Perform other related duties as directed by the Director, Associate Director or Laboratory Administration.

Minimum Qualifications A Master's Degree, or greater, in a Natural, Physical or Forensic Science, Administration (e.g. Public Administration, Business Administration or Criminal Justice) or Computer Science;

AND

A minimum of five (5) years satisfactory experience performing the duties of a Forensic Scientist (or its equivalent in another laboratory) in Seized Drugs and/or Fire Debris analysis.

OR

Ten (10) years of satisfactory experience performing the duties of a Forensic Scientist (or its equivalent in another laboratory) in Seized Drugs and/or Fire Debris analysis.

Minimum qualifications must be met by the date of the posting.
