Job Specifics
Duties Description • This position resides on the Internet Services Administration team in the Bureau of Software Platforms within the Chief Information Office.
• Create and maintain system documentation, as well as diagram the infrastructure of entire systems.
• Collaborate and actively participate with other Chief Information Office (CIO) units to troubleshoot problems within the Office of the State Comptroller’s (OSC) infrastructure.
• Support and maintain processes developed to automate, deploy, and/or support services offered by the Internet Services Administration (ISA) team.
• Monitor and complete routine health checks of servers.
• Manage user accounts and software for ISA supported applications.
• Apply security fixes and feature packs on regularly scheduled intervals for all ISA support software.
• Create detailed plans used for software upgrades.
• Install and configure new software installations.
• Perform upgrades to current systems.
• Create, modify, maintain scripts, plan, and coordinate the scheduling of scripts.
• Implement security policies per industry best practices.
• Coordinate problem resolution between teams.
• Provide on-call support for nightly batch processing.
• Verify supported applications and web servers supported by ISA are operating and available.
• Check the previous night’s batch processing results each morning, resolving any outstanding issues.

Non-Competitive Qualifications for appointment under the NYHELPS Program:
For an appointment to an Information Technology Specialist 2, you must have:
1. A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology.
OR
2. A bachelor's or higher-level degree, including or supplemented by 15 credit hours in computer science courses.
OR
3. 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.
OR
4. A total of two years of experience in information technology.
Competitive Minimum Qualifications:
You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 52.6, 70.1, or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.
Transfer:
For 52.6, 70.1, or 70.4 transfer to an Information Technology Specialist 2, salary grade (SG)-18, you must have one year of permanent competitive, or 55-b/55-c service in an approved title for transfer allocated to an SG-16 or above.

Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades or one M-grade.

Telecommuting: The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency’s mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee’s primary residence location, duties, and work performance are aligned with telecommuting and operational needs they may be allowed to do so. Generally, OSC employees may telecommute up to 5 days per pay period but may be approved to telecommute less.
