Job Specifics
Duties Description * Conduct advanced data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support agency decision-making and regulatory oversight.
* Partner with business and project teams to understand their reporting and decision-making needs.
* Develop and maintain complex reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate key findings to stakeholders.
* Lead the development and implementation of data models, ensuring they are optimized for analytical queries.
* Design and execute data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes from various internal and external data sources.
* Import and integrate data from diverse sources, including databases, APIs, and flat files, ensuring data is properly structured for analysis.
* Lead data cleansing and validation initiatives to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of datasets.
* Proactively identify and resolve data-related performance issues to ensure efficient access and analysis.
* Collaborate with IT teams to improve data flow and architecture for reporting needs.
* Draft documentation on data sources, models, and analytical solutions for clarity and transparency.
* Contribute to the agency's data governance processes and policies, acting as a subject matter expert and providing recommendations for data quality, security, and usage standards.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to Data Analysts 1 and 2 on best practices for data analysis, including data quality, importing procedures, and adherence to data governance policies.
* Review and validate reports and analyses produced by junior staff for accuracy and quality.
* Stay informed on current and emerging data analysis tools, techniques, and best practices.
* Present complex analytical findings to business leaders and stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Non-competitive: nine years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models
and data mining tools.
*Substitution: An associate’s degree may substitute for two years of general experience; or a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of general experience. A master’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, may substitute for one year of general experience; or a Ph.D. in these fields may substitute for two years of general experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
Additional Comments Candidates with no previous state service will begin at the starting rate of the salary range listed above.
