Job Specifics

Duties Description The Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail) is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the stockroom which includes unloading trucks, answering phones, tending to the window, maintaining the delivery dock, receiving of materials into TFP, labeling items, stocking items, issuing materials and parts to the work order or program charge accounts.

Additionally, the OA1 makes deliveries to work units. During snow and ice, the stockroom must be staffed especially during emergencies and/or when crews are deployed to the Buffalo Division.

Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service to a Grade 6 or above and eligible for transfer under Section?70.1 of the NYS Civil Service Law.

NY HELPS Qualifications:
There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title.

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

ADDITIONAL PAY INFORMATION:
The salary range for this position includes all applicable annual components of pay which are:
Base Pay Range from Hiring Rate $17.16 up to Job Rate $24.80.
Recruitment & Retention Pay: $3.37.
