Job Specifics
Duties Description Under the direction/leadership of the Lottery Regional Director and Lottery Regional Manager, reporting directly to the Supervising Lottery Marketing Representative, SG-18, the Lottery Marketing Representative 1, SG-16 is responsible for coverage of targeted retailers in an assigned territory. Responsibilities include managing their territory, developing, and maintaining effective store relationships, providing day-to-day account contact, responding to specific account requests, and coordinating all activities as required to increase individual retailer and total territory sales. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Providing consultative selling to store personnel and management.
• Actively assisting and participating in the Lottery’s planning, merchandising, sales, and administrative processes.
• Monitoring sales by store and game type; utilizing that insight to identify deficiencies and propose solutions.
• Participating in retailer awareness programs and sales development training.
• Traveling as required to provide acceptable account coverage.
• Attend meetings and scheduled events as required.
Minimum Qualifications Permanent Qualification: A permanent or contingent permanent Lottery Marketing Representative 1, SG-16, who is interested in accepting a new territory. Preference is given to employees within a region first before transfers between regions can occur.

Minimum Qualifications: 1. Six years of experience managing a retail business, servicing retail sales accounts or marketing products (including advertising, marketing communications, product research, or promotion). Experience limited to the duties of general sales clerking, cashiering, or stocking shelves, is NOT qualifying.
Or 2. an associate degree in a related field and four years of above experience.
Or 3. a bachelor’s in a related field and two years of above experience.
Or 4. A master’s degree in a related field and one year of above experience.
NY HELPS:
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply and complete a probationary period.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Individuals certified eligible for the 55-b/c program under the Governor's Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55-b/c of the Civil Service Law are encouraged to apply. To be considered, 55-b/c candidates must provide a copy of their letter of eligibility with their response and meet the NY HELPS minimum qualifications.
No Exam Required under NY HELPS.
Additional Comments Downstate Adjustment:
Appointees who work in the five boroughs of New York City or in Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, or Westchester Counties will receive an additional $4000 annual downstate adjustment.

Appointees to these positions may be required to operate a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job. If the position requires that you operate a motor vehicle, you must possess a driver's license valid in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter. Field work and travel expenses are reimbursed on a fixed schedule.

Prohibition against Playing and Wagering:
Commission employees and family members residing in their households are prohibited from purchasing Lottery tickets or claiming Lottery prizes. Commission employees are prohibited from wagering upon any horse racing, commercial gaming, video lottery gaming, Indian gaming, charitable gaming activities, interactive fantasy sports, and mobile sports wagering within the State. To avoid any appearance of impropriety of conflict of interest, Commission employees will be prohibited from all aspects of promoting, operating, and playing in any charitable gaming, which includes bingo and games of chance such as raffles, whether the organization conducting the game is required to be licensed by the Commission. The prohibition placed upon each Commission employee from assisting with any charitable gaming does not apply to the employee's family unless the employee thinks it presents a conflict of interest related to his or her job duties. Commission employees must also avoid any outside activities that could interfere or be perceived to interfere with their job duties.
Pre-Employment Restrictions:
The law that established the Commission (specifically, Section 107 or the Racing, Pari-mutuel Wagering and Breeding Law) prohibits any person from being employed by the Commission if, during the period commencing three years prior to employment, such person held any interest in, or employment by, any corporation, association or person engaged in gaming activity with the State.
