Job Specifics
Duties Description The incumbent of this position will report to the Office of Disaster Recovery.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Develops and maintains knowledge of all applicable State and Federal laws, rules and regulations relating to recovery programs and grant administration.
• Assists in the preparation, review, evaluation, and analysis of a variety of reports and other documents specific to the assignment. Collects, tabulates, analyzes data, and draws conclusions from analyzed data to makes appropriate recommendations. Also, creates tables and charts and drafts reports to document analyses and procedures.
• Develops, maintains, and updates database programs and methods of data analysis for programs areas. Monitors and evaluates data for deficiencies and assists in correcting problems.
• Liaisons with various agency program staff and other State, local, and federal agencies.
• Organizes and maintains electronic information and documentation for projects, contracts, disaster declarations, financial information, and reports.
• Compiles data and prepares program and financial reports, correspondence, and responses for FEMA, state agencies, and applicants, as directed.
• Assists with preliminary damage assessments and disaster declaration requests.
• Provides logistical support for unit briefings, trainings, and workshops; helps prepare and organize related materials.
• Attends meetings with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
• Completes special projects as assigned.
• Facilitates, participates in, and delivers trainings and to educate applicants and staff on recovery programs and administrative processes.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Potential to supervise permanent, temporary and or contractual staff performing all supervisory duties as required.
• Travel may be required (approximately 10%), including during evening and weekends, depending on mission and assignment.
Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
Note: Work schedule may vary based on operational need. Occasional overtime may be required.
Minimum Qualifications REASSIGNMENT/TRANSFER
Current New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services employee with one year or more permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as a Program Aide and are interested in reassignment; OR Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 11 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 as appropriate of the Civil Service Law.
