Job Specifics
Duties Description Maintain basic financial, accounting, and/or statistical records. Perform calculations and computations, primarily on computers and calculators, using known and standard formulas and methods. Contact various internal and external parties to obtain information. Prepare, process, review, and record numerical transactions and records. This may include processing bills and vouchers; reviewing or auditing calculations or statistics; disbursing or receiving items such as cash or vouchers, and tasks such as calculating and collecting fees.
Minimum Qualifications Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at St. Albans employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Office Assistant 2 Calculations.
Transfers: Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to Office Assistant 2 Calculations. Promotion Provisional Appointment: In the absence of an eligible list with three or more candidates willing to accept a position, a temporary provisional appointment may be considered. For provisional appointment, candidates must meet one of the following minimum qualifications: Be a current New York State employee with one year as an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher. Open Competitive HELPS qualifications: If less than three interested and qualified New York State Department of Health employees serving in the direct-line, lower-level title(s) within the agency apply to this opportunity, the agency may make a non-competitive appointment under the NY HELPS program: One year of experience where most work time is spent performing mathematical operations, and/or clerical activities related to mathematical operations.
Additional Comments Two permanent, competitive full-time appointment, or non- competitive full-time appointment via HELPS.

To be eligible, candidates must be an employee of the Department of Health and have one year of permanent competitive service as a Office Assistant 1.
The posted salary ($46,641 - $56,413) includes the $4000 of downstate adjustment.
This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.
