Job Specifics
Duties Description Under the direction of higher level Supervision, the Park Supervisor 1 will be responsible for:
• Scheduling and assigning tasks to employees which include golf cashiers, rangers, and starters.
• Acting as lead point of contact with the public for formal golf outings.
• Supervising toll collection operations.
• Supervising and directly reporting Montauk Complex revenue and attendance.
• Performing and overseeing audit and inspection of multiple concessionaires including catering, pro shop, and food and beverage at Montauk Downs and Montauk Point State Parks.
• Training staff on OER and Health and Safety topics.
• Compiling data for special reports as needed.
• Other related duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).**
To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, or 55 b/c, candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are:
Either 1. three years of experience* in the construction, operation, or maintenance of a park, recreational facility, or campus;* one year of this experience must be at a supervisory level;
Or 2. an associate's or higher level degree or 60 college semester credit hours*** AND one year of supervisory experience in the construction, operation or maintenance of a park, recreational facility, or campus.*
*A park, recreational facility, or campus is defined as a location that offers at least three of the following elements: athletic fields, skating rink, campgrounds, golf courses, hiking trails, historic structures, marinas, picnic areas, playgrounds, recreation programs, swimming facilities or education, environmental or interpretive programming.
**For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
***Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must have the ability to follow directions and communicate with staff, public, and respond to patrons' concerns or complaints in an effective and positive manner.
