Job Specifics

Duties Description • Work in support of the Trades Specialist(s) (Carpenter/Plumber/Heavy Equipment Operator), SG-12, providing duties such as:
o Perform basic carpentry work in the construction and repair of structures and other wood items
o Install, maintain and repair plumbing fixtures and appliances both inside structures and in underground facilities, including work on water, sewer, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems
o Operate and maintain a variety of construction equipment in support of the heavy equipment operations
• Perform general facilities maintenance including aiding park staff and regional maintenance crews in the upkeep, maintenance, and repair of park buildings and grounds throughout the Finger Lakes Region. Tasks include:
o Hanging drywall, painting, insulating, roofing, plumbing repairs, and assisting regional carpenters, plumbers, and heavy equipment operators

Minimum Qualifications There are no minimum qualifications for this title per Civil Service.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment
• Must be able to perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair work
• Must be qualified and medically cleared to wear a respirator and have knowledge of good safety practices
• Must be able to perform medium to heavy labor
• Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds
• Must be able to perform work outdoors in all weather conditions, on uneven and steep terrain, carrying and using hand and power tools
• Experience performing basic plumbing and/or carpentry skills

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Experience operating light equipment such as skid steer, mini-excavators, and Utility Task Vehicles (UTVs)
