Job Specifics

Duties Description Under the direction of Manager Information Technology Services 2, within the HESC Dedicated Team, the position will be involved with supporting enterprise-wide technology modernization and transformation initiatives involving educational services across New York State.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Agile & Product Delivery Support
Assist Technical Product Managers, Product Leads, and Scrum Masters with:
Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives)
Preparation of agendas, facilitation support, and follow-up tracking
Support teams operating in Scrum, Kanban, and/or Scaled Agile (SAFe) environments
Help maintain product backlogs, sprint boards, and delivery artifacts
Documentation & Knowledge Management
Develop and maintain clear, structured documentation, including:
Meeting notes, action items, and decision logs
Product, feature, and process documentation
Agile artifacts and operating model materials
Support knowledge repositories using tools such as Confluence or SharePoint
Tools & Platforms
Learn and actively use enterprise platforms such as:
Jira (backlog management, sprint tracking, reporting)
Confluence (collaboration and documentation)
ServiceNow (intake, workflow, and service management, as applicable)
Ensure accuracy and consistency of data across delivery tools
Business & IT Coordination
Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams by:
Assisting with requirements gathering and clarification
Supporting cross-team communication and coordination
Helping track dependencies, risks, and follow-ups
Continuous Improvement & Transformation
Participate in Agile maturity and transformation initiatives
Support adoption of product-led, customer-centric delivery practices
Gain exposure to enterprise technologies, cloud platforms, integrations, data, and security concepts

Preferred Skills:
Strong interest in Agile methodologies, product management, and technology transformation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Additional Preferred Experience (Advantageous)
Prior experience or coursework in:
IT, project management, product management, or software delivery
Agile, Scrum, or Scaled Agile frameworks
Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or ServiceNow (academic or practical exposure acceptable)
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
Initiative, curiosity, and a continuous learning mindset

Additional Information
This internship provides meaningful, hands-on experience while supporting NYS ITS modernization efforts.
Interns will be evaluated on learning, contribution, collaboration, and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications • Must be a US citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be currently attending a New York State college, university or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State
• Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year’s worth of academic credits over a more extended period of time may qualify part-time students) OR currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
• Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or equivalent to a C.

Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. This position can be part time or full time.
