Job Specifics

Duties Description Under the general supervision of higher-level personnel, the Park Worker 3 will:
• Collects and distributes mail from the Post Office and interoffice mail from the parks.
• Prepares and ships all envelopes and packages, (USPS, Fed Ex, UPS, Amazon Etc.).
• Orders office supplies for the Regional Stock Room, and toner cartridges for the parks and facilities.
• Keeps a current and accurate inventory of all products in the Regional Stock Room.
• Handles copy requests from the parks and facilities.
• Performs switchboard duties when needed.
• Fuels and maintains fleet cleanliness, supplies and general maintenance.
• Ensures all vehicles are clean and free of debris.
• Performs routine checks on tires, brakes and fluid levels.
• Drives State vehicles for various Parks events.
• Transports staff and authorized passengers between locations.
• Maintain accurate logs of routes, mileage and fuel management.
• Adhere to the agency’s Code of Conduct policy and ensure compliance with all guidelines, policies, and procedures in daily tasks.
• Other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a park, historic site, golf course, or recreational facility;
OR - One year of experience in any of the following fields:
• Law enforcement or security
• Firefighting
• Emergency Medical Services
• Environmental education or stewardship
• Natural resources management (e.g., forest management, wildlife management/preservation)
• Historic preservation or interpretation
• Landscaping or grounds maintenance
OR - One year of military service in any branch of the United States Armed Forces;
OR - Thirty (30) semester credit hours of college-level coursework from an accredited college or university*;
OR - Completion of a two-year technical/trades school program;
OR - Two years of experience as a trade assistant working under the direct supervision of a skilled tradesperson.

*Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. Reassignment Qualifications:
Current NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Employees only, with at least one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as a Park Worker 3.

Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Ability to adhere to traffic laws and company policies, often monitored by GPS/telematics.
• Must be physically able to perform medium labor and have the ability to lift 50 pounds.

LOCATION PAY:
The hiring rate will be the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 9 ($42,641) and the Downstate Adjustment ($4,000). The job rate will be the sum of the statutory job rate ($52,413) and the Downstate Adjustment ($4,000).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The CSEA contracts allow for salary protection for seasonal / hourly employees who are appointed to permanent graded positions with lower hiring rates under certain circumstances. We encourage OPRHP seasonal / hourly applicants to check in with your Regional Business Office Administrator to inquire about the potential impact on your salary. As a permanent graded employee, you will be eligible for regular salary / performance advances (i.e. salary increases).
