Job Specifics
Duties Description The New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) provides operational support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year, supporting more than 4,900 applications for 53 New York State Agencies.
Under the direction of the Manager Information Technology Services 2 (Technical), SG-27 within the Enterprise Network Services bureau and Support and Operations section of Chief Technology Office, the Information Technology Specialist 4, SG-25 will support ongoing mission-critical operations and be responsible for coordinating delivery of network solutions to roughly 50 state agencies at hundreds of remote sites throughout Western Region of New York State.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Coordinate requirements gathering for remote site moves, adds and changes
• Produce Rough Order Magnitude (ROM’s) cost estimates for agency sign off
• Work with stakeholders and team members to prioritize site coordination activities
• Conduct status and working meetings with stakeholders and team members.
• Evaluate/support antiquated systems (such as WMS, BICS,
• Collaborate with DSHES for Emergency restoration efforts
• Develop and implement communication plans for reporting status, progress, issues and risks.
• Create and execute risk assessment and management plans.
• Utilizing extensive knowledge of data and voice networking facilitate the timely and efficient processing and tracking of various types of requests pertaining to data and voice projects and implementations. This includes the design, build and run experience for various network (WAN, LAN, Wireless)/VoIP environments.
• Analyze all incoming work to determine task complexity which is required to develop timelines, scope, resource allocation planning and budget impact.
• Match Pool workload balance and resource skill to optimize Pool execution on a continual basis to achieve timely, high quality service delivery and SLA compliance from the team.
• Take ownership for assessing issues and lead resolution.
• Ensure portfolio stakeholders follow standard guidelines and procedures when requesting service from the Client Networking.
• Supervises a team of site consultation staff
• Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities.
• Reports project status to senior management
Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 3 (Programming) or Information Technology Specialist 3 OR in a position at the SG23 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades or one M-grade.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
