Job Specifics
Duties Description The Bureau of Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded public health nutrition program which provides reimbursement for healthy meals and snacks served to children in family day care homes, day care centers, emergency shelters, afterschool programs and adults in other programs.
The Public Health Nutritionist 1 (PHN1) will work in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Security, Technology and Reporting Services Unit. The Public Health Nutritionist 1 (PHN1) will serve as the CACFP Nutrition Media Specialist and will be responsible for developing and maintaining forms and publications essential to child nutrition program participation. The position will review CACFP federal regulations to ensure form changes align with programmatic requirements. The PHN1 will also participate in bureau planning to identify program priorities and coordinate the release of Sponsor communications. In addition, the position will maintain the DOH public facing website by ensuring that CACFP participation data, policy memos, mass memorandums, forms and publications remain current to support child nutrition program operations. The PHN 1 will also serve as a Nutrition Implementation Coordinator for the CACFP Information and Payment System (CIPS) and serve as a CACFP subject matter nutrition expert, oversee the accuracy of electronic file data management to support CACFP, train staff and provide technical assistance. This position will directly supervise an Office Assistant 3.
Minimum Qualifications Public Minimum Qualifications (HELPS Program):
A. You must be a Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) currently registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
AND
B. you must have two years of full-time professional experience, after successful completion of the Registration Examination for Dietitians, in the field of nutrition or dietetics.
Substitution: A Master's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Health, Public Health, Public Administration, Health (Care/Services) Administration, Nutrition Education, Health Education, Community Health, Health Care Policy and Management, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work/Social Welfare, Human and Social Services, Early Childhood Education, or Public Policy may be substituted for one year of experience.

Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current DOH employee with permanent or contingent-permanent competitive status as a Public Health Nutritionist 1.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will possess excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities.
