Job Specifics

Duties Description Duties include but are not limited to:

• Perform building and ground maintenance and cleaning activities.
• Operate a variety of power-driven mechanical equipment including trucks, tractors, mowers, line trimmers, and power saws.
• Assist in building and repairing roads, paths, picnic tables, benches, trails, and park equipment.
• Assist in emergency situations by applying emergency procedures and practices, assisting, and directing staff, and working with patrons to minimize potential problems.
• Maintain records including those pertaining to daily maintenance, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and personal timekeeping.
• Assist in other areas of park operations as needed.
• Assist and direct staff and work with patrons to enforce park rules and ensure proper customer service.
• Assist with pruning and tree removal activities involving the operation of chain saw, wood splitter and chipper.

Minimum Qualifications No minimum qualification per Civil Service.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
• Must be able to act independently with a minimal amount of direct supervision.
• Must be able to work a variable schedule that may occasionally include weekends, evenings, and holidays.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience performing facility and operations work in a park setting or related field
