Job Specifics

Duties Description Fredonia invites applications for a Plant Utilities Engineer 2 in the Facilities Services, for the following shift:

First shift - 7:00 am-3:30 pm, Monday to Friday

This position is full time, probationary/permanent, CSEA represented, SG16 position with an entry-level salary of $63,136.

A Plant Utilities Engineer 2 performs the activities and tasks listed in the Classification Standard for Plant Utilities Engineer 1. In addition, a Plant Utilities Engineer 2 schedules, plans, and lays out work and supervises the activities of a crew of skilled and semi-skilled employees who are involved in the operation and maintenance of heat generating, air-conditioning, HVAC and electrical equipment. Incumbents are also responsible for oversight of systems maintenance, health and safety issues, and energy conservation projects.

Supervises Plant Utilities Engineers 1 and other lower-level staff engaged in plant operations, maintenance, and repair functions; may supervise contractors;
Schedules, plans, and supervises the activities of skilled and semi-skilled employees and contractors involved with plant operations, maintenance, and repair activities;
Provides training, instruction, and assistance to staff in the performance of tasks, and implements changes in procedures to improve efficiency;
Inspects plant equipment and operations to ensure proper maintenance, scheduling, and safe and efficient operations;
Prepares estimates of materials, parts needs, and costs; orders or directs ordering of materials, equipment, and parts;
Maintains tool and equipment inventories per applicable policies and standards ;
Supervises and coordinates the handling of various types of hazardous materials and the response to any incidents having potential environmental impact or safety concerns. Identifies budget requirements, including staffing, repair, maintenance, material, and equipment needs;
Makes recommendations to assist with preparation of annual operating budgets;
Enforces energy conservation protocols and supervises the installation and modification of equipment to obtain peak energy efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent service as a Plant Utilities Engineer 1.

Must possess a valid state driver's license.

Additional Comments This is a full-time, probationary/permanent SG16, CSEA represented position with an entry-level salary of $63,136 to begin as soon as possible.

PUE2's are considered Essential Service as per the Essential Service Policy. Fredonia employees designated essential must remain on duty or report to work at or before their scheduled starting time to avoid interruption of essential services unless directed or permitted to do otherwise, by their immediate supervisor.
